Miyanda meets Kunaka!

Talk about Happy Feet!

Dec. 2nd 2006 - on a snow-bound and black-iced afternoon, the performance group of MIYANDA met KUNAKA for the first time.

Neither understood what the other did - except that they both loved to perform. Kunaka provided the Marimbas and Miyanda provided the theatrical dance group. Both supplied boundless enthusiasm and application. Taking turns to perform, each group buzzed with excitement as to the possibilities each other brought to the table in terms of talent and cultural differences.

If there had been any reservations as to the two groups having commonalities - these were dispelled in the first few minutes - as Kunaka watched the vibrance and dynamic rhythms of the Miyanda dances. When it was Kunaka's turn to perform, the Miyanda performers were barely able to restrain themselves from joining in the upbeat and driving tempo of the Afro-Cuban Kunaka performers.

Where this fusion of unique talents will lead is hard to predict, but my money is on the word SUCCESS!

Credit where it is due - THEO VINCENT - Musical Director of Kunaka, has created a performance group that clearly is headed for great success. GREAT job Theo!

Miyanda has been trained by Fana Soro and Lisa at the Multi-Talented MASABO Music and Dance Studio (details to follow)
